Well the big move happens tomorrow. I'm looking around tonight at all the stuff that isn't yet in boxes, and despairing.
My current internet connection will be deactivated and it might take a week or so to get the new one established. I might be able to get on occasionally, but not often.
Talk to you soon from my new abode.
Greg.

Good luck with the move. That's generally my routine: look around last minute and despair. The good thing about moving frequently has been that I've not managed to accumulate a whole bunch of stuff I don't need and therefore have to sort through and also therefore have to move. I'll hazard and say that at the final bit, it'll all pull together.
I hope it goes smoothly. Good luck! And see you when the Internet comes back on.

Good luck with the move!!!! And, yes, I KNOW that feeling of staring at way too many unpacked things and wondering how it'll all get moved. When all else fails, just start indiscriminately throwing things into boxes if you start to run out of time. You'd be amazed how fast you can pack when you don't have the time to care what goes where anymore!

We did it a bit differently this time.
I held an internet sale for a lot of my old clothes. Offloaded dozens of ties, shirts, pants, coats and shoes and donated the money to the MS Society. I raised about $400!
We were packing right up until the night before the removalists came and there was still quite a bit of stuff that we had to take over in the car. They were a whiny bunch, moaning about how the book boxes were heavy. Well, duh, they were full of books! And they are the oens who provided the boxes, and hence dictated how many books you could fit in them.
What on earth do they think people pay them for, if not to lug heavy stuff around?
It mostly went well. They only broke one thing, and that was minor. We found our barbie won't fit down the side path, so we'll have to buy a smaller one. Better hurry, summer's here.
Because we were short of time we packed a lot of stuff with the intent of deciding later if we were keeping it. We've spent the last week or so unpacking stuff and forcing one another to justify keeping it (we have a lot less space now). There have been lots of runs to the recycling station and the op shop, with more to come.
We're working through the rooms and getting them unpacked one by one. We have only just got internet back a few days ago, and we haven't set up the entertainment centre or the study. We are also going to buy some furniture, and stuff like a new iron, microwave, saucepans and a few other things we've decided to replace.
When we got here we found that the dishwasher didn't work (turns out it had been disconnected) and neither does the gas stove. Still don't know what is wrong with the stove, but it's cramping our style in the kitchen and my son is pissed off with it, because he can't cook his favourite dishes (i.e. pasta).
Have been checking out the local shops. There are some pretty eclectic cafes; there seems to be a bit of a French African community around here. Lots of Chinese and Indians too. Really nice coffee shop and pizza place. I'm starting to get used to the trains.
So far, so good. I'll keep you posted.

Hope everyting is working and in place soon.....it is a big chore, but going through and getting rid of is one of my favorite things. Feel like I really accomplished something and good that I stopped holding on to things someone else would really want

I've moved so many times during the past few years, I've not had time, really, to weigh myself down with a bunch of stuff. And yet, I still managed to purge each move. So I can only imagine how much a whole family has to wade through.
And yes! to whiny moving guys. (Removalists? Cool word.) The last two I hired to help me move I hired specifically because the last place I was in was on the fourth floor and there was no elevator. My friends hurt themselves getting me into that place, I wasn't going to have them do it again getting me out. But you should have heard the guys I hired whine about the stairs! It was spectacular.
Anyway, glad to hear it's going mostly well, WS. I hate moving.
