- Please remember that joining and participating in this community is the same as being a guest in someone's home: You are a welcome guest or you would not be a member here, and a little respect for the 'house rules' will go a long way to being invited back again and again.Thank you.
- Use only one posting name: If you take the time to write it, do not hide behind another name and be proud of what you write. If you have left of your own accord, and choose to post again please identify what name you posted under previously.
- Don’t copy all or parts of a discussion from any other community or link to a thread in another community without the permission of the author(s): If someone in another community has something great to say, invite them to join our community and ask them to share that thought. If someone from this community has said something you want to share in another community, ask first. If you have permission, please state that in your post and post the link to that discussion only.
- If your post is not your original work, you must provide a direct link to the source you used and the name of the author if possible: This applies to all posts, and not only those from publications. The link has to be a direct link to the article or quote, and not just the source website. Any post of this nature will be deleted without the required source information.
- Do not copy and paste or hotlink to any photos or graphics: Please see out Posting FAQ page for the process to do this
- Respect for other posters is mandatory: Please remember that there is a line between making a passionate or humorous point and being willfully disrespectful toward one another. Do not cross it with any regularity. It is required that when posters disagree, they are not disagreeable.
- Inflammatory or crude language is not acceptable: Please remember that it not only does not aid your point of view to use slurs of any sort in posts, it is also the fastest way out of this community. Also remember that crude jokes are actually not funny in most cases, and jokes with intentional slurs are never funny.
- Post a warning for any links that may be disturbing to other posters: Links that may contain images or language that may considered disturbing to other posters can be posted, but they must be accompanied with a written warning that states the "images or language may be disturbing". You must use good judgment when making these sorts of links - if the link is too graphic or disturbing in the estimation of management, the link will be deleted.
- No verbal attacks or name calling: Tact is the art of making a point without making an enemy. Respect for fellow posters should always be paramount in the way we address one another. Please remember that we only have the written word to go on here, and often things can be misinterpreted. Make sure your words and presentation say what you mean to say, and take no offense when someone asks for clarification....that may be the best way to see that your words and your meaning were not clear to others.
- We are here to discuss news and issues, and not each other: Posters and other boards are not current events. If you have a bone to pick, e-mail them or private message them directly. If not, let it go. Repeated incidents of this nature can lead to the poster being classified as "high maintenance" (see below).
- Please understand that it does not matter who started it: Anyone who participates in verbal attacks will be dealt with in a way deemed appropriate my Management.
- No spamming, insulting, flaming posting pornography or excessive cursing; no swearing at other posters under any circumstances; no chain emails: Seems self-explanatory
- If you wish to inform posters here of other communities, please do that only on the Favourite Links or Other Communities page: Thank you
- All questions, concerns and complaints for Management must be posted on the Ask Management Page or directly to Management via email or personal message here on the board. All other complaint or question threads posted to any other page will be deleted or moved to the Ask Management page at the discretion of Community Management. Once a subject has been dealt with, all parties are asked to move on. If not, the posts or thread may be deleted. Email to management should be directed to bmacintyre53@yahoo.com or georgina747@gmail.com or by personal message to either here on the board. These conversations are limited to those that directly involve the poster asking the question or expressing the concern. No member of management will discuss other posters with you for any reason.
- Try to use good judgement when posting a concern or complaint and allow sufficient time for Management to review and discuss it prior to responding: The only members who may post to an Ask Management thread are the member posting the complaint, the member whose conduct the complaint addresses (if any) and What's News Management. All other posters will be deleted, Discussions of actions taken including deleting posts, temporary suspensions or banning of members is not up for discussion with anyone other than the affected poster.
- When deemed appropriate, the Management will either warn a poster about an inappropriate post, delete an inappropriate post and, when necessary, temporarily suspend or ban a poster: We hope that this will be rare, but it will certainly happen from time to time. If there is to be any discussion of a deleted post, it must happen on the Personal board or the Ask Management board, unless you prefer to email or personal message Management to discuss the issue privately. The decision of Management will be final. All posts that display or link to graphic violence or sexually inappropriate material will be immediately deleted.
- Should a disagreement between posters occur, the discussion of that disagreement will be limited to those directly involved only: While this does not happen often, this sort of thing happens when communicating in a less than perfect medium. It does not help anyone for others to 'pile on' or jump in with their opinions about the disagreement. Posts of this nature will be deleted and can lead to being temporarily suspended or banned in drastic cases.
- Do not turn into a "high maintenance" poster: If you find that you are receiving multiple requests from Management or your posts are being removed following Management requests repeatedly, please rethink how you are saying what you are saying. It is rare that the problem is the content of the posts, but the way in which an argument is presented. Often posters do not realize when their presentation has gone past defending a position to confrontation. Please take your cues from management statements and those of other posters. Whether you agree with the Management view on your posts or not is immaterial. If you become a "high maintenance" poster who requires too much managing in order to maintain civility on this board or to retain the tenor of conversation that most posters wish to engage in, you will be asked to leave or removed from membership at Management discretion.
- We reserve the right to remove anyone deemed to be a disruptive presence in this community: This is completely a judgement call on the part of Management and is intended to ensure that those posting are here to partake in meaningful conversation and not merely to "stir the pot" without any substantive discussion. Often the reasons for this are obvious, other times it is not. Management will always attempt to err on the side of continuing conversations that are productive but not personally confrontational. There will be times when posters may not agree with the decisions, but they are decisions to be made by management alone. And they are never taken lightly.
- If you have been banned from this board, do not return under another name: If Management finds that banned posters have returned under new names, those poster names will be immediately removed from the membership listing.
- This is a place for conversations, not monologues: If you are not interested in interacting with other posters, this will not be a good fit for you.
- 'Hit and Run' posters are not allowed here: If you are not interested in being a full member of this community but choose instead to join, post and unjoin, all posts made by you will be deleted by Management.
- All posts will either be only in English, or an accurate translation into English is required if any other language is contained in any post.
- Members who do not participate in discussions may be removed from membership: If you are going to be away for an extended time, please let any member of management know or leave a message on the Offline board and you will not be removed. We want to encourage active participation from all our members, but if you send an email or private message to bmacintyre53@yahoo.com and request that you not be removed from membership and are free to remain a non-participating member of the community
