Big believer in fun here, but I take the stairs before an escalator anyway.......although I might do it twice or more if it made music  |

When it's just a short flight of stairs like that, I usually just take the stairs...unless I'm dragging along heavy luggage off a train. But, that's because the stairs are often faster than the escalator when there are big crowds. Though, I agree that making things fun is a good thing. I also think more people take the stairs when they are open and bright rather than a dingy, windowless stairwell.
It never ceases to amaze me at work how many people will take an elevator to just go one floor. If it's only one or two floors, I always take the stairs, and I'll take the stairs down even if it's more floors.
