Bad because a Mirror Carp I brought up from being a two inch toddler 28 years ago fell victim to the unusually hot weather we've had in the UK. He seemed to have had heat stroke and while we were out and came to the surface on his side & got quite badly burnt. We managed to keep him alive for another 3 days but he finally died. Last Wednesday was also my last surviving cat's 19th Birthday, very fragile now but we love her to bits.

Goodness. Sorry for your loss. You seem to have very good luck with animal longevity, though. You must be a wonderful human to live with.

It seems all your creatures want to remain with you as long as possible. I am sorry about your carp, but what a wonderful run he had with you.

Well last Wednesday the inevitable happened, I had to call the vet to have her "put to sleep", still feel a little like Judas doing it. But there's a thin line between keeping an animal alive for your own sake rather than the animal's and the vet who actually called around our house to do the deed thought we had it exactly right. Still miss the little girl terribly the slightest thing reminds us of her. Wednesday was the longest ever in my life, called the vet at 08.30 & she called round at 16.30 after her normal daily vet work.

I'm so sorry for your loss, ruby. That was a huge, difficult, and ultimately loving decision you made.

I appreciate the comments from you both, every day afterwards things slowly get a little better but we still miss her terribly
