Patchouli, Deviant Art info (Read 19 times) From: firefly Full Member Karma: 1 TO: Patchouli, Deviant Art info « Thread Started Today at 1:19am » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patchouli, I did best work with pastels, followed by pencil, watercolor, acrylic and oil, in that order. I think I did pretty well with portraits even though I taught myself. I haven't been able to do any artwork since the surgery and stroke. I also have reached the stage where I can no longer physically participate in exhibitions. I decided it was a shame that some of those I still have aren't being seen. Some of those posted on DA have been sold, or were lost to Katrina. (Three of my children were in New Orleans for Katrina, and lost everything to the waters.) But I have posted their photographs even though they are gone. Wouldn't mind selling some more, but I usually did my best selling in New Orleans, at Mall Exhibits. They don't have those here in Columbia SC. I am debating allowing the pictures to remain on DA because I don't really understand the terminology they use and I am getting little out of membership, after the initial surge of interest. The page link is below: zabaleen.deviantart.com/current events II is the only political message board from which I have ever been banned, and that banishment is for life. I got into a religious argument with a religious administrator over attacks from a religious poster. I was accused of being a formerly banned poster using an assumed name to regain access to the board. It wasn't true, but the "true believers," believed it was so. So I was banished for life. Don't mind if the art isn't impressive. I am self taught and just like bright colors, textures, details, patterns and really was more or less experimenting for the most part. ff -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ Exalt | Smite ] Re: Patchouli, Deviant Art info « Reply #1 Today at 8:43am » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Firefly - I answered your post at the Personal discussion place. Thought it might be easier there. See you over there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patchouli, I can't find a message anyplace, which is not surprising. I looked on here and can see how to send a message, and it is also indicating there are NO incoming messages. I checked DA and I can't find anyplace that I could receive a personal message. I can hardly find the places where I can receive a public message. Whatever it is, thanks for taking the time. I have my personal email on here "hidden" so it isn't there. I looked just to be sure. This is not a political issue, so I'm going to switch it over to the General board, okay? ff

Thank you, Peltigera. I would never have thought to look there. It's a real pain in the arse when you realize someone must have left out the decimal point in your IQ score. ff

Thanks, Pelti. Sorry, firefly - it did rather sound like I meant our personal emails.

Hi, Patchoulli,
I'm sorry for my igorance. I've never bothered to look at the names of all of the boards.
Thank you for your patience.
In response to the medical questions, yes, the stroke occurred while they were playing doctor inside my chest. It was, luckily (and unluckily) a mild stroke and, for the most part, I am able to walk, talk, think, see well enough to get around by myself. However, the unlucky part is that I am right handed and my right hand and arm have areas of non-feeling and areas of intermittant and varying degrees of pain. Prior to the heart surgery, there was a small piece of plaque that broke off and lodged itself in my right eye. Initially that eye was totally blind, but within a few weeks I regained partial sight. It is the right side my body that was affected.
The surgery was three years ago and I have become used to my right hand being partially numb and I am trying to drawk/paint again, but my hand is not as steady as it was. You can see I like a lot of detail in some of the stuff I do.
Do you post any of your work on line someplace, or do you have some photos. I would love to see your work, especially if you use oils. I began with oils and I think I got two good paintings done, and then I started on landscapes, which is what I really wanted to do. And I absolutely sucked at landscapes. Tried to do a waterfall and it looked like an overflowing septic tank. I think oils are "king" though, but you've got to have more confidence than I have to make it work.
The pastels were discovered by accident and I found my level--finger painting. lol.
I'm going to delete the Deviant art site from the other board because it has my full name, etc. and I forgot about everyone seeing that. I don't hink I have any enemies on here, but you never know when one will come along.
By the by, which religious explosion did you witness. I've had many. I've evolved from a closet athiest to a hostile, openly outraged combatant.
CEII was infuriating. And the recent one on VOC was really awful. There's no way on earth I would have posted something that should have been intentionally disrespectful of Sooz, and it was only the distortion by that contentious person which made my words seem offensive. I mean, name every other religious polical action committee. Holy cow! That would take longer than my remaining lifetime.
Any way, thank for the kind words and if you have your work posted someplace, give me a holler. I'd like to visit.
ff
Peltigera, aw, man, ya stole my "age card." I was saving it for when I forgot my name. Hmmmm. By that time, I'll probably forget this ever happened and I can still use it. Ah, yes. I'll probably be somebody else by then anyway. Thanks for the help.

Interesting work Firefly. Cheers from Toronto.
