Wow! Hope you don't mind a little bragging but Indianapolis is looking good! As host of Super Bowl XLVI we have put out the good china and plumped the sofa cushions and we are almost ready for our 150,000 guests to arrive. I drive right through the "belly of the beast" to and from work and can see some of the changes that have been made to the city. Traffic has been getting steadily worse each day for two weeks, even at 5:30 am to 6:00 am when I'm driving, and those in our office who have to drive in or close to the heart of the city are planning on telecommuting this coming week if/when things get crazy. The number of guests isn't a problem for us, we host around 250,000 each year for the Indy 500, but a big test would be a snow storm or ice storm. We also are not a big taxi cab city, there are only 700 of them and hailing a cab from curbside is not the usual way of catching a ride. You have to call the cab company and they'll send someone to your door. That's going to seem a bit "down on the farm" to the folks from the northeast. It's exciting to live here right now. And fun. Everybody is pumped. I can't physically do most of the activities but just watching others having fun is a hoot. If any of you are planning to attend Super Bowl 46 I hope you have a great time. And I hope your team wins. Patch

My attitude as well. Can't really stand the game. But so far, here in Indiana, Super Bowl hasn't been about the game at all - the Colts aren't playing so Hoosiers feel why bother. (I don't care even when they do play). It's about all the neat stuff there is to do and see in downtown Indy. Amazingly, the streetlights that were burned out now have bulbs, the big chunks of truck tires on the road shoulders have magically disappeared. The city looks cleaner, brighter and more puffed up than I've ever seen it. Hoosiers are having a blast just strolling around downtown Indy and looking at stuff. Most of them just want to ride the zipline!

Colts fans don't feel some residual warmth for Eli Manning? He's almost family.

Yeah, I guess Eli is a more loved football foe than most. I know this only because I see his name a lot in Indiana sports news headlines. I hear folks talk favorably about the Mannings although there seems to be some sort of scandal with father Manning. You're on your own there, if you want more info. Now that it's all over, the whole Super Bowl experience was a giant win for Indianapolis. But it's nice to have our roads back to their normal traffic.

I thought about you during the whole Super Bowl event, Patchoulli. That's really cool that your state got to host it. : )
I was rooting for the Patriots, but I'm most glad that it was such a great, close game!
