CODY, Wyo. – A man has been cited for public intoxication while riding a white horse during a snowstorm in the northern Wyoming town of Cody. Police say they cited 28-year-old Benjamin Daniels after they received a call Sunday afternoon from a motorist concerned that a man was creating a road hazard by riding his horse on a street in conditions with poor visibility. Cody Assistant Police Chief George Menig says officers noticed Daniels was intoxicated after they stopped him to explain that drivers were having difficulty spotting his slow-moving white horse. Menig said Thursday that Daniels was detained Sunday and released the following day. He will go before a municipal judge later. A friend of Daniels picked up the horse. There was no telephone listing for Daniels. ___ Information from: The Billings Gazette, www.billingsgazette.netnews.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090130/ap_on_fe_st/odd_drunken_riding

Hey, maybe the motorist was creating a road hazard by driving a motor vehicle on a street in conditions with poor visibility. Are there really drunk driving laws for horseback riding?

No delete feature?
Of course, white cars driven by drunks are perfectly safe during snowstorms.

Was the guy wearing all white too? Just how fast were these drivers trying to go on a snowy road in a white-out if a horse is a road hazard? I would rank a horse in the same category as pedestrian. If the guy was just walking without a horse, because the conditions were too dangerous to drive, isn't it the driver who should be more careful?
I'm also not a fan of public intoxication laws. If someone has been drinking, they should be encouraged to walk home; it's the responsible thing to do. As long as they don't have a bottle in their hand, they should be allowed to find their way home without having to get into a car.
