A feature of the old board that I miss is knowing what I've read and what I haven't. I understand that I can mark everything as read, but there seems to be no way to keep track throughout the day.
Am I missing something?
And don't you all like my new sideways face? I have G to thank for that.

When there are new posts on a board that you haven't read, the arrow button to the left of the board will be light blue instead of dark blue. When you are looking at a board and there are new-to-you posts in the thread, there will be a little icon that says "new" in the thread subject line. If you are logged into the site for a while, mash the refresh button and any changes will show up. I've not tried the "mark as read" button. What does it do?

"Mark as read" will mark all the threads as if you've read them. It's useful if you've read everything you're interested in, and next time you come back, want to know only if there's something new since your last visit, not that there are still threads you didn't read last time. Rob, I like your sideways smiley. Now that we have real smilies again, those of us handicapped by MSN for all those years can appreciate a sideways smiley. Though, I REALLY want to flip G's turtle over so I don't have to keep watching it struggle on it's back there.

Yeah, he's kind of frustrating to watch, isn't he? But some days really do feel like that.

Aww...the gorillas are cuter, and really ironic with the heading "We don't get personal here" under them.

Those are gorillas? I thought they were garden gnomes.

That's because you're looking at them sideways.

Sometimes, like now, I don't see the gnomes, gorillas, dogs, cats and smileys, even if I turn my head sideways.
Why is that?

Because there's a picture-seeing filter attached to you? Seriously, though. You can't see images?

No images. So I don't know what sort of creature you are today.
Although... the gorilla gnome wasn't really a good look for you.

I have pictures as long as I'm just a guest (and BTW, today you're really, um, well, today you look like you must have a very nice personality), but once I log in, no pictures.

Go into your profile, click on "modify profile" at the top towards the right, scroll down to "account preferences" and make sure that you have "yes" selected for "show avatars" and "show images". See if that works.

I keep clicking that, and it stays clicked till my log-in expires (although not always that long) and then it reverts back.

When you're done making changes, do you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click the "modify profile" button that's on the bottom left?

Yes, dear. I suspect it's just a Mac glitch with my particular OS, and it's not a big deal except that you have a new look every day.

I suppose you could set your login to last longer.

I think it's set at 6 hours, which is several hours longer than my attention span.
You and G are just full of smartass advice, aren't you? You reach in and jab at me, and then you run to hide behind an innocent cat ...

There's no such thing as an innocent cat! ;D
I just set my login to permanent or forever, or whatever that choice is. It keeps me from having to remember what my password is.

I don't lose my settings and my log-in is set at 6 hours. And I log off every time I leave, so. We tried something else. Let's see if that holds. And evidently "smartass" isn't censored but "spoon" was. Go figure.
