Possibly my major pet peeve, grammatically speaking, is the "between he and I" type of mangled pronouns. I've found pretty consistently that this is the upraised pinky finger of usage in that people who favor the abomination want to sound more refined/educated/upper class than they are.

I'm glad to see "loose" as number one. It has been driving me crazy for years. I used to think it was some kind of Americanism until I noticed it emerging back here too. It's even started appearing in our newspapers, which used to be bastions against poor usage.

I listen to a lot (not alot) of BBC Radio (4 & 7) online, and I've been more than a bit dismayed to hear the bad grammar that's common now among the presenters. Another one I hate is hearing someone say "begging the question" when they really mean there's a question that should be asked.
