Liberals Horrified By Lack Of Inexperience Among Obama AppointeesFebruary 4, 2009 | Issue 45•06 Article ToolsShare This Digg This Facebook Stumbleupon del.icio.us Reddit Email This To: From: Print This Related ArticlesCandidates Annoyed To Have To Take Stance On Zinc Mining 10.23.08 'Time' Publishes Definitive Obama Puff Piece 07.18.08 WASHINGTON—Following Barack Obama's appointment to his cabinet of several veteran Clinton administration officials and a number of others with extensive backgrounds in their respective fields, former left-wing supporters of the new president expressed shock and outrage at the combined experience and competence of his choices. "What we want in a cabinet is the same thing we want in a president: people who spout rhetoric about universal health care, say they were against the war from the start, and have absolutely no experience implementing any policies," influential liberal blogger Chris Bowers wrote in a post criticizing the nomination of former deputy attorney general Eric Holder for attorney general. "As we sink deeper into a global economic recession and fight the battle against climate change, it is imperative that Obama nominate people who have no idea how to wield power in our massive federal bureaucracy." Bowers added that liberal Democrats would be comforted if Obama at least changed his mind and decided to name the 34-year-old Bowers or a blogger from Daily Kos secretary of homeland security. www.theonion.com/content/node/93035

Perhaps with all that "experience," they ought to try paying their taxes.....

Perhaps we should look at the source before getting too interested in debating it.

Pssssssstttttt, Laz, don't look now but your link says it's from The Onion. There really isn't much "to get".

Oh, sure, Laz remembers to post his link and you bust him for it. LOL! I always enjoy Onion stories. Though, if the thread title matched the story title, it would have been a bit funnier. In the realm of satire, I've been enjoying how quickly The Colbert Report has turned on Obama. I was worried some of those shows would stop being funny if they were afraid to pick on Obama the way they picked on Bush.

Of course Colbert takes on Obama.....Obama is a slightly left leaning centrist. Colbert is not. Many who supported him are not. So there is, from that point of view, room for improvement. And then there is the natural comedy of trying to get someting in government to work well - like herding cats.

Not really. Simply pointing out who it really is that doesn't "get it". Mind you, the irony of it is amusing.

You do realize that the Colbert you see on the show is an invented character, don't you?

Ummm, yes. That would be hard to miss. But Colbert will take his humor as he always has, from further left of center than Obama sits. I am not sure I understand your question. But that's OK. It has been a day like that today

Obama is only slightly left leaning? That's news! He's pretty darn far left. That's the problem, the more moderate Democrats really don't support him because he's so far left.
There's also the factor that if Colbert didn't pick on Obama, there wouldn't be any show. But I was worried the jokes might be more strained from writers that were more of Obama supporters.

Moderate Democrats don't support Obama....?
Check out the "Majority Oppose Obama's Plan to close Gitmo" thread to find at least a dozen things on which Obama has majority support of the people (which includes Republicans, so the number of just Democrats supporting him will be even higher).
Obama's overall approval rating is 70%. His approval among Republicans is 45%.
Where do you get that "moderate democrats don't support Obama?"

Exactly, pax.
I have come to believe that this country has moved so far right in its rhetoric that the center looks far left. You do have to give the far right credit/blame for changing the tone and perceptions of the country.

The mark of a good satirist is that there are no sacred cows. Their job is to take the mickey out of the high-falutin' and powerful. That job description doesn't change when the powerful change positions.
A satirist who stopped when there is a change of government would be a propagandist, not a satirist.
