What are those little "click to ignore" smilies in our name cards?

G is exploring options - so very creative. much more than I ever could be.
I think that if you click on that, you would not see any post that person creates. If you change your mind, you can go to the members listing and uncheck it.

Gads you're observant, Patchoulli. I didn't think anyone would even notice while I goof around.

Observant about cute little things like that, G. Not so good at math. Sounds like fun, whatcher doin' there. If it's a surprise I won't tell.

Well, if you click on the little face that has the x on its mouth that's in another user's profile/post, you won't be able to see their posts any more. You'll still see their name and the space will indicate that they did indeed post something, but there will be a message where their writing ought to be that says you are ignoring that person.
Once you've clicked the face with the x it'll turn into an open-mouthed smilie face. So, if you want to un-ignore someone, then you click on that face and you can read their posts again.
New fangdangled thing. Give it a try! You won't break anything and it is reversible, so no harm no foul. You just can't ignore me or Beth. We're special that way. ;D

Does the x-mouth carry over to other threads or just in the posts in one thread? Will the ignoree know I'm ignoring? Does that sound mean to anyone else but me? Could it be construed as a kind of censorship? Am I way over analyzing the thingie?

The x-mouth carries over to all posts by the ignoree. I don't think the ignoree will know you're ignoring them. I'd try ignoring you to find out, but then you'd have no way to tell me. Maybe you could tell Beth when I can un-ignore you again. Does which sound mean? Whether or not they'll know they're being ignored? I don't quite get the censorship part either. It's helpful, actually, when there are whole bunch more people on a board and someone makes you absolutely point-blank nuts with their commentary. And you just don't want to read their stuff. And you can't help looking. I see its value then. Here, though, I don't know. I don't think it's censorship, because you're not -- and Beth and I aren't -- preventing anyone from saying anything that may you, Patchoulli, personally, around the bend. Anyway, I'll mash "ignore" on you and then you look around and see if you get a message anywhere that says I'm ignoring you. I'll turn it off again in a few hours because, truly, I'd prefer not to ignore you.

Well, I ran off to bed as soon as I posted my "analytical" post so don't know if the experiment as to whether I could tell if you were ignoring me worked or not. I looked around on different posts and couldn't see anything unusual. If you want to experiment on my posts again, feel free. Always willing to help the cause.

I left you on ignore all night because I saw you hadn't logged in again after I posted. If you couldn't see anything different or you didn't get a flashing banner that read, "Hey!!! G's ignoring you!!" then I'm thinking that likely there isn't any notice.

I'm thinking you are exactly correct in that there isn't any notice of one ignoring another. I didn't notice a thing. I guess it would free up having to scroll down through so many posts where ya just know what the poster is saying. Glad no feelings will be hurt. Thinking of someone crying on their keyboard was just too sad to contemplate. Most of the time. heh

Hrm. I don't have one of those little faces with an x-d out mouth so I could try it and tell you, WS. Click on it and see what happens. If bad things happen and, you can't get back, e-mail me. Whatever else happens, let me know!

Whatever else happens, let me know! I may prefer it that way. If someone accuses me of having posted something stupid, I preserve deniability.

Indeed I can. Many others would no doubt say "about time".
Now to pay attention to myself again.

That's funny in a surreal kind of way. -- I'm ignoring you! -- You can't ignore me! I'm ignoring you!
