I love this one ... And then there’s the story of Tour rider Julien Moineau. During the 1935 Tour the riders were hit one day by a heatwave that slowed the pace to a crawl and turned the proceedings from challenging to miserable. According to this retelling, the riders came upon a table beside the race course where friendly spectators were offering cold beers. Many of the riders stopped to partake, but not Moineau, who dug in, raced to the finish and won the stage by 15 minutes. No teetotaler he; the beer pitstop was Moineau’s idea all along; his friends manning the table tried to delay the peloton as long as possible. Moineau stood at the finish and raised a beer to the other riders as they at last rode in. The good old days!blogs.forbes.com/christopherhelman/2011/07/14/what-fuels-tour-de-france-riders/

A little birdie whispered the strategy to him.
