We'll need to collect some questions that are frequently asked about how this board functions before we can supply you with the frequent answers.
So. I guess this is a work in progress.

Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but are there "Prev" and "Next" buttons anywhere? One seems to have to navigate through threads by going back to the News and Issues board first.

I don't see any previous and next buttons either, but it never occurred to me to look for them until you asked. I don't know if they can be added or not. Does anyone else usually use them? I don't read every thread, so always go back to the main thread list to pick and choose.

I'm not quite sure I understand the question. You mean to move from thread to thread without seeing the titles first, wheels? Or to move from one page to the next in a thread when the thread goes more than one page? Because if it's that, the page numbering is at the bottom of the thread and lets you select the next page number just by mousing over.

I mean both. MSN (and other discussion forums) had command buttons allowing you to go directly to Next Discussion and Previous Discussion. Within a longer thread, you could also go to the next page of a thread. I've seen how to do the latter, but not the former.
Thanks.

I went at looked at the MSN boards and another board, and lo, there they are. I didn't ever notice them on MSN because I didn't ever use them or think to want them. And hence why it wasn't something I noticed about this board when shopping around. But, so, yes, it's certainly not here. I can give a go at writing to the Powers That Be at ProBoards and offer it as a suggestion for board improvements.

I can give a go at writing to the Powers That Be at ProBoards and offer it as a suggestion for board improvements. Good luck. I'd assume that, since it's a pretty basic function, it would have been asked for beforehand. If they were going to do it, they probably would have done it by now. Before you trouble yourself, I'll try and do a little research to see if there's something a board owner can put into the board's code to achieve it. Proboards seems to have lots of third-party scripts available; maybe there's one for that. I'll get back to you.

OK, I've done a bit of digging. (I guess I should have done that before bothering you). As far as I can work out, you can create some quite magnificent menu buttons using Photoshop or similar and then hosting them on a photo site. There is even a board where you can ask other members to create you some buttons to the style that you want. support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gdrSome of those are really good. BUT, there is a set of menu commands that you can create buttons for and no others. They are the same commands you see in the default menu bar: Home, Help, Search, Members, Calendar, Profile, Login, Logout. What you are doing is customising the look of the board; you can't create new commands. So drat, but we still have a useful resource should you want to get fancy in future.

Can I put pictures in posts? I cannot find a way to, but that means little.

I know it can be done, but have not stumbled upon how to do it yet. I will try to check that out tonight.

From my recent vacation. When you are in the "Post Reply" box, there's a little icon that looks like a framed picture in the second row of icons. (It's very small and hard to make out.) It's the fourth icon in from the left. Mashing that button brings up these tags [ img ][ /img ]. (Without the spaces. I had to put the spaces in to make them show up.) You upload your images to a photosharing site like Photobucket or Imageshack, and then get the image's URL from there. (Photobucket will give you the URL with the [ IMG] tags already already attached for copying and pasting into a post.) Once you have your URL copied, you paste it in between the two [ img][ /img] tags. Or, alternatively, paste your image's URL into the reply box, highlight it, and then and then mash the image icon. That'll place the [ img] tags on either side of your URL for you. [ img]URL for photo goes in here.[ /img]
